Experts warn of eventual extinction of Japan's municipalities

"The nation has entered an era of full-scale population decline... and we might have no choice but to live as a small country." A group of population experts is warning that over 40 percent of Japan's municipalities could one day run out of residents and cease to exist. They stress that the country is facing its "last chance" to reverse the trend.
